Genrobotics Opens Defence & Space Production Facility in Thiruvananthapuram
Kerala-based deep-tech robotics company Genrobotics has inaugurated a new production and R&D facility at KINFRA, Menamkulam, near Thumba, marking its expansion into defence, aerospace and space technologies.
The facility was inaugurated by Shri APM Mohammed Hanish, Additional Chief Secretary (Industries), Government of Kerala. Shri Balagopal Chandrashekar, Chairman, KSIDC, and Shri Santhosh Koshy Thomas, Managing Director, KINFRA, also addressed the gathering.
Genrobotics co-founders and directors, including Vimal Govind, M.K., Rashid K., Nikhil N.P. and Arun George, along with investors Manoj Agarwal of SeaFund and Anil Joshi of Unicorn India Ventures, attended the event.
Menamkulam facility will focus on R&D and production of advanced robotic systems for defence and space applications. The company has also strengthened its aerospace capabilities with senior talent from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) joining its team. The facility is part of Genrobotics' larger manufacturing expansion in Kerala.
Its upcoming Palakkad production facility will focus on sanitation and medical robotics, while a new headquarters and R&D facility at Chanthavila, Thiruvananthapuram, is also under development.
Together, the three facilities are expected to add around 1 lakh sq ft of infrastructure to the company's operations in Kerala. Speaking at the inauguration, Vimal Govind, Co-founder and CEO, Genrobotics, said: “We began by going where no one else would: into the sewers. Today, we're headed where few dare to dream: into space. From sanitation to space, that's the journey Genrobotics has been on, and this is just the beginning.”
The expansion marks a new phase in Genrobotics' journey, extending its robotics capabilities from sanitation and healthcare to industrial, defence, aerospace and space applications, while strengthening Kerala as its manufacturing and innovation base.
